SUMMARY:It's Not Easy Being Green
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOWJoin Laura Haley for “It’s Not Easy Being Green: Modern Mechanics for Floral Design” presented by the Late Bloomers Garden Club. \nLaura demonstrates several beautiful floral designs without using floral foam. Decomposing floral foam crumbles into tiny microplastic particles that remain in the environment for hundreds of years; microplastics end up in the soil\, water\, and other ecosystems. Flower shows are beginning to limit the use of floral foam. \nLate Bloomers Garden Club\, which is part of the Garden Club of Jacksonville\, invites you to register for this demonstration and see the alternatives available for contemporary designs. \n$25 for #GardenClubJax members\, includes boxed lunch after the program \nAbout Laura Haley\nA nationally recognized floral design judge\, exhibitor\, lecturer\, and educator\, Laura Haley is a member of Late Bloomers Garden Club and The Little Garden Club of Rye in New York. Laura has made it her mission to educate others on the art of floral design. She has instructed fellow judges on various design styles and the importance of the principles and elements of design. A 2019 National Medalist from The Garden Club of America for Floral Design Education\, Haley is a multiple blue-ribbon winner in Philadelphia\, Newport\, and GCA Flower Shows around the country.  Her contemporary style is innovative\, yet she embraces traditional designs in her own home. \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:Budding Gardeners: CleanUp Jax
DESCRIPTION:VOLUNTEER NOW\n\nVOLUNTEER SIGNUPS BEGIN JULY 22\, 2024 \nJoin the Garden Club of Jacksonville and Riverside Avondale Preservation on National CleanUp Day. Children and their families join this national effort to keep the outdoors clean. As a group\, children and their parents will safely pick up litter along Post Street and Riverside Avenue. This special Budding Gardeners starts at the Garden Club at 9 a.m. and continues until 11 a.m. Refreshments will be served at the Garden Club at 11 a.m. \n\n\nAccording to National CleanUp Day\, many studies show that someone will pick up litter is if they witness someone else picking up litter. That’s because peer group norms are more powerful than incentives\, and together\, they can provide impressive behavioral change. Most people want to do the right thing; all they need is a little encouragement or incentive. The leadership of National CleanUp Day believes people are naturally responsible; if we encourage them to care for their favorite places\, to pick up after themselves and others\, then our outdoor spaces will become self-sufficient\, clean\, and more enjoyable. \nEveryone participating in Budding Gardeners: CleanUp Jax is required to wear closed shoes and protective clothing. \n\nBudding Gardeners is aimed at children in grades 1-6 to discover gardening\, conservation\, and wildlife through interactive programs\, crafts\, and outdoor projects. Children and their parents or caregivers collaborate during a morning of healthy and fun activities. \nEach registration includes one parent and child. \n\n\nFree to everyone \n\nGreat volunteer opportunity: Sign up here! \nSponsorship Opportunities\nA sponsor of this Budding Gardeners program receives: \n\nRecognition on our event pages\nRecognition in our email marketing to more than 6\,000 contacts\nRecognition on our social media channels\nRecognition on event slideshow\nRecognition in our blog post after the program\n\nAnnual sponsors also receive: \n\nVerbal recognition at all Budding Gardeners programs\nSponsor table at all Budding Gardeners programs\n\nIf you have questions about sponsorship\, please email info@gardenclubjax.org or call 904-355-4224. \nVOLUNTEER NOW

SUMMARY:Forest Therapy Walk
DESCRIPTION:RESERVE YOUR SPACE\nJoin Dr. Trey Wilson for a guided forest therapy experience at the Jacksonville Arboretum & Botanical Gardens\, featuring gardens and trails to help you find peace and connect with nature. #GardenClubJax and the Jacksonville Arboretum are partnering on this special program. \nForest therapy is an effective and scientifically tested way to improve physical\, emotional\, social\, and spiritual well-being. A certified guide will allow the healing powers of the forest to help you feel  clear\, grounded\, and balanced. The forest is the therapist\, and the guide opens the doors. It is not a nature walk or hike. It is a slow walk in which you decide what slow means for you.\nIn his first career\, Dr. Trey Wilson spent 37 years in Manhattan as a cosmetic dentist specializing in caring for patients with dental phobia. His second career in landscape design and nature therapy combines his love of nature\, helping people achieve higher levels of health and wellness\, and his training as both a spiritual director and clinician to deepen the human/nature connection. Through Trey Gardens\, Dr. Wilson designs both gardens and activities in residential\, commercial\, and institutional settings to achieve these outcomes. \nBecome a member today and get a BIG discount! \n\n\n$45 for #GardenClubJax members | $60 for nonmembers \n All ticket sales are final and nonrefundable \n\nRESERVE YOUR SPACE
