This edition of the Garden Club’s educational lecture series will take guests on a journey through the history\, cultivation\, culture\, and global impact of coffee\, while highlighting the fascinating horticulture behind every cup. \nThis month’s featured speaker is Oleksandra Kostyuk\, a member of the Garden Club’s Wildflower Circle. Oleksandra will share insights into “The World of Coffee\,” offering attendees an opportunity to learn more about coffee-growing regions\, plant characteristics\, cultivation practices\, and the traditions that have shaped coffee culture. Her presentation will blend horticultural education with cultural appreciation\, creating a unique and welcoming evening for gardeners\, plant enthusiasts\, and coffee lovers alike. \nDuring her 20+ years in brand marketing at a coffee manufacturer\, Oleksandra also served as a Coffee Champion at her company\, introducing new employees and business partners/suppliers to the World of Coffee. \nHer program will guide you through the history of the origin and establishment of coffee as the favorite beverage of millions\, revealing the main aspects of growing coffee and the science behind its invigorating effects\, the stages of its processing\, and helping you better navigate the variety of contemporary coffee products. \nGarden Club of Jacksonville Horticulture Corner is an educational series featuring guest speakers and experts who share insights on a variety of gardening and landscape topics\, including plant conservation\, soil health\, garden design\, seasonal practices\, and environmental stewardship. DESCRIPTION:Join the Garden Club of Jacksonville for Fun with Flowers: Back to Basics on July 15\, 2026\, for a day of floral creativity\, hands-on design\, and inspiration. This special program will feature both morning and evening sessions\, each offering a unique opportunity to learn professional floral design techniques while creating beautiful arrangements in a welcoming and educational setting. Attendees will explore timeless floral fundamentals and classic arranging skills for everyday entertaining\, seasonal décor\, and special occasions. \nThe morning session\, Back to Basics: Fun with Jan and Sam\, will be led by Jan Sillik and Sam Runyon. Together\, they will guide attendees through approachable floral design techniques\, foundational arrangement principles\, and creative tips for working confidently with fresh flowers. This session is designed to be educational\, interactive\, and enjoyable for both beginners and experienced flower enthusiasts. \nThe evening session will feature Sandy Dixon\, Master Rosarian\, member of Floralines (the floral design group of the Garden Club of St. Augustine)\, and Wildflower Circle member at the Garden Club of Jacksonville.
