SUMMARY:FFGC District IV Spring Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Attend this spring business meeting of District IV of the Florida Federation of Garden Clubs\, featuring a presentation by Cheryl Cummer\, Madelaine LeDew\, and Valerie Herrmann about Lanakila Garden\, the two and half-acre property on the St. Johns River that Cummer has worked to preserve through the North Florida Land Trust. The entire property is maintained organically and sustainably using agroecology principles\, and includes a regenerative food park\, a micro-flower farm\, and a riparian flood-tolerant garden on the river. \nAttendees may arrive as early as 9 a.m. for morning coffee and pastries by Brew Five Points\, socializing\, and shopping at the boutique tables. The meeting begins at 10 a.m. \nThis program will be offered in-person at the Garden Club and simultaneously on Zoom. Seating at the Garden Club is limited\, so purchase your ticket today. COVID-19 health and safety guidelines will be practiced during this event. Seating in the Ballroom will be socially distanced\, and attendees must wear masks throughout the entire program. Lunch will be served at tables throughout the campus. \nIf you need help registering or want to send a check\, please call 904-355-4224\, and we’ll be glad to help. \nBallroom tickets (limited seating)\n\n$25 for FFGC members\n\nIncludes morning coffee and pastries and your choice of individual boxed lunch: \nGrilled chicken paillard\, presented sliced\, with roasted fennel\, Picholine olives\, grilled lemon\, extra virgin olive oil\, Grana Padano cheese\, arugula salad\, lemon-dill roasted fingerlings. Take in the view of the luminaria from the front lawn of the Garden Club while you listen to live music\, sip a beverage\, nosh on small bites\, and play lawn games with plenty of room to physically distance while connecting socially. Attend the Holiday Garden Boutique in the Ballroom and find a wide range of items: masks\, accessories\, jewelry\, garden tools\, Christmas decor\, books\, and more! \nCatch a tour from Go Tuk’n and enjoy an open-air ride through the lights of Riverside and Avondale. DESCRIPTION:In 1922\, Ninah May Holden Cummer gathered a group of friends in her Riverside home to create a more beautiful city. This group ultimately became the Garden Club of Jacksonville. Ninah Cummer was born on October 16\, 1875\, and the Garden Club is celebrating with an outdoor picnic with plenty of room to physically distance while connecting socially. DESCRIPTION:Get a great car wash and support the Centennial Garden at Historic Willow Branch Park. Drive up to the parking lot behind the Garden Club at 1005 Riverside Avenue. Proceeds from this donation-based car wash will help fund a lush garden featuring native plantings in addition to public art and reforestation. \nThere is plenty of room to be socially distant while supporting a great cause. \nRichard Ceriello\, president of the AIDS Memorial Project of Northeast Florida\, has been working to improve the park for several years. His organization has planted trees in the park to commemorate those who died of HIV/AIDS. \nHe and Theresa Parlato formed the Plant Parenthood Facebook group with a focus on developing and celebrating gardening arts among members of the Jacksonville LGBTQ community. They’ve been working with landscape architect Scott Dowman and D.
