Horticulture Corner: Farm to Fork
October 4, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
| FREEJoin us for an evening with farmer and community leader Ashantae Green as she discusses the farm to fork movement and how consuming locally sourced meals can positively impact our economy and the environment.
Green is her last name, and so is her life! Ashantae Green is a politician, architectural designer, farmer, and advocate for equity and healthy resilient communities. As an elected Commissioner of Duval Soil and Water Conservation District, Green works to plan, implement, and facilitate programs, projects, and best management practices that promote agriculture and the conservation of natural resources in Duval County. Green is also the owner of Farmery, a Farm to Fork Bakery & Bodega located in Historic Springfield, and Green Legacy Farm, a family-community farm dedicated to equity, regenerative agriculture, food sovereignty, and growing the next generation of farmers and food system leaders.
Guests will also have an opportunity to purchase a limited number of locally made farm to fork meals and products from Farmery & Green Legacy Farm. Their store will be opening to the public in September.
This program will be offered in-person at the Garden Club and simultaneously on Zoom. Masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 but are recommended to help protect everyone. Those who are unvaccinated should wear masks; the Garden Club appreciates your cooperation.
The program is free and open to the public.
