Horticulture Corner

Experts educate about landscaping, gardening, and conservation.

Horticulture Corner is a free monthly program for the after-work crowd and all experience levels. Speakers range from master gardeners to local business owners who share their experience, knowledge, and stories. Topics include landscape design, edible gardening, incorporating native plants, and much more. This program is also recorded and posted on the Garden Club’s blog. Approximately 150-350 people register for each monthly program.

Annual Sponsorship: $12,000

Budding Gardeners

Children discover gardening, conservation, and wildlife through interactive activities.

Budding Gardeners is a low-cost program for children and their parents or caregivers to collaborate during a morning of healthy and fun activities. Each program focuses on a different topic and provides a planting to take home, an art or craft project, and a variety of other sensory activities. This program is also recorded and posted on the Garden Club’s blog. Approximately 50 children and their families register for each program.

Blooms Galore & More

Giant plant sale with dozens of vendors, a green market, and fun activities.

Garden Club members donate hundreds of plants for the Sprout Sale, which attracts plant-lovers from near and far. The Green Market features dozens of vendors selling plants, honey, soap, bird accessories, artwork, jewelry, and more. The event begins with a Preview Party the night before that provides an opportunity to shop early, while enjoying drinks, music, and small bites. Approximately 2,000 people attend this event each year.

Flea Market

Keep valuable items out of the landfill while you help support #GardenClubJax.

It’s the ultimate place to reuse and recycle! In addition to raising money for #GardenClubJax, the organization also invites its members and the public to sell items at this giant yard sale. The event begins with a Preview Party the night before that provides an opportunity to shop early, while enjoying drinks, music, and food truck fare. Leftover items are donated to local charity thrift stores. Approximately 2,000 people attend this event each year.

Open House

Garden Club of Jacksonville welcomes the community to learn about our programs.

Hundreds of members and the general public attend the annual open house celebrating the upcoming year of programs. Guests can learn about fun and informative events like Horticulture Corner, Budding Gardeners, Fun with Flowers, Combined Circles, Luminaria Festival, Designer of Distinction, Flea Market, and Blooms Galore & More. Attendees can find out how they can become Garden Club members and volunteer at events like these and others. Approximately 400 people register for this free event each year.

Luminaria Festival

Celebrate the holiday season with music, merriment, and so many lights!

Garden Club of Jacksonville hosts a fabulous gathering in conjunction with Riverside Avondale Preservation Luminaria Night. Guests take in the view of the luminaria on Riverside Avenue while they shop at a pop-up holiday market, listen to holiday music, sip beverages, nosh on small bites, and play lawn games. Go Tuk’n provides open-air tours of the lights throughout the neighborhood. Approximately 500 people register for this free event each year.

Fun with Flowers

Professional floral designers lead hands-on, make-and-take workshops.

Founded by the Garden Club of Jacksonville more than 30 years ago, Fun With Flowers serves as a model for similar programs throughout the United States. Attendees learn professional design techniques from a local professional, then create breathtaking arrangements during the hands-on portion of the program. This program is also recorded and posted on the Garden Club’s blog. Approximately 50 people register for each program time.

Combined Circles

#GardenClubJax members gather for occasional programs.

Combined Circles allows members of #GardenClubJax to meet for fellowship and camaraderie. Three Combined Circles programs a year offer a valuable opportunity for connection and discussion, and how members can support Garden Club programs while also bringing their talents to the broader community. This program is also recorded and posted on the Garden Club’s blog. Approximately 100 people attend each program.

Designer of Distinction

A nationally renowned floral designer demonstrates breathtaking designs.

The Designer of Distinction is an annual fundraising event that presents experts in the field of floral design demonstrating and discussing their work. Each designer has a national reputation that draws about 200 guests for an in-depth presentation. Attendees are treated to a professionally catered and served lunch after the program, and have the opportunity to win a raffle with a selection of floral designs created during the event. Approximately 150 people register for this program.

Volunteer Days

People from throughout the community come together to care for our campus.

At least four times a year, we invite the community to join us for a day of planting, trimming, pruning, weeding, and clean-up around the Garden Club’s campus at 1005 Riverside Avenue. It takes a village to keep the Garden Club grounds and surrounding area looking their best, so we appreciate all volunteers! Sponsorships will help cover new plants and supplies, as well as refreshments for the volunteers.
