Join Nicholas Freeman, owner of the Wacca Pilatka native landscaping company, for a presentation about the process behind creating Native Parks #1 and #2 at Park Street and Avondale Avenue in the Riverside Avondale neighborhood. Volunteers from the Ixia Chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society spent many Saturdays digging up many invasive plants and planting 138 native species to add to the 37 native species growing there when work began in 2011. Freeman will discuss the history and future of the park along with its benefit to the neighborhood, impact on the environment, and opportunities for education.
