Horticulture Corner: Orchid SOS
August 2, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
| FREEWe’ve all been there: You see a beautiful orchid in the grocery store, you proudly bring it home, and within a few weeks its leaves are drooping, stems are turning brown, and you’re powerless to save it. Learn why your orchids don’t survive and make them thrive with orchid enthusiast Lorraine Conover, who joins us for a lively and informative program. Conover will walk participants through common orchid ailments, demonstrate proper repotting methods, and help you add a few tools to your orchid care arsenal.
Lorraine Conover is currently the first vice president of the Jacksonville Orchid Society and a lifetime member of the Boca Raton Orchid Society. She has been a Florida resident since the summer of 2004 and moved to Fernandina Beach with her husband, Gary, in 2017. She has grown many perennial gardens over the years, and collecting and growing orchids has turned into a passion. Before moving to Fernandina Beach, her collection surpassed 500, all living in her gardens created just for orchid growing. Her current collection numbers about 200, and she loves sharing information about how to successfully grow orchids.
This program will be offered in-person at the Garden Club and simultaneously on Zoom. Masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 but are recommended to help protect everyone. Those who are unvaccinated should wear masks; the Garden Club appreciates your cooperation.
The program is free and open to the public.
