A Pop-Up Double Hitter You Can’t Miss!

Help tend our gardens, pause to refresh, and soak in Chris Gay’s presentation on Permaculture.

Garden clean-up: 8:30–10:25 am
Chris Gay’s presentation: 10:30 to 11:30 am

Volunteer for clean-up or register just for the presentation. All are invited to both events.

Master Gardeners can earn CEUs by attending the program.

Permaculture is about working with nature. It’s a sustainable design that connects humans, plants, animals, and Earth. It’s all about creating efficient, small-scale systems that use nature’s power, not fossil fuels.

Chris Gay, President of the Clay Counter Master Gardeners, will show us how to turn dirt into soil to have healthy lawns and gardens; the homeowner’s challenges in growing grass and plants when buying a new home and what to do. He will explain the uses of compost, leaf litter, and biochar.

For anyone wanting helpful information on taking care of their lawn and soil health, Chris recommends the UF/IFAS Publication “The Importance of Soil Health for Residential Landscapes”.
