| Free – $5Join Emily Cottrell of the Jacksonville Historical Society as she discusses the process of preserving images, scrapbooks, and documents from the Garden Club of Jacksonville and archiving their history for the future. Cottrell will focus on how the Garden Club has managed to represent and influence the larger history of Jacksonville through hosting and recording its own philanthropic, public, and floral events.
Emily Cottrell is the assistant archivist and current interim archivist for the Jacksonville Historical Society. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Florida and is currently completing her master’s degree in history at UNF as well. During the beginning of her master’s program, she held an internship with the Jacksonville Historical Society where she was able to assist in the organization, preservation, and digitization of the Garden Club of Jacksonville Collection. Emily’s historical work has focused primarily on the importance and development of female agency and power across various times and cultures.
Combined Circles is an occasional program that allows members of garden circles to meet at the Garden Club of Jacksonville for fellowship and camaraderie.
