Join Allen Skinner of Soil Life Organics to learn how soil microorganisms work to grow healthy plants without fertilizers or chemicals. Understand how you can grow better plants when you work with nature not against it. Skinner will discuss his hands-on research at Clara White Mission‘s White Harvest Farms. You’ll see how understanding the world beneath your feet will make your thumb greener!

Skinner’s company, Soil Life Organics, is dedicated to helping customers optimize their soil conditions to get the best results, whether they’re growing food crops, turf, or landscaping. He has more than 11 years experience in soil health analysis with a focus on soil biology. He is a candidate to become one of only 35 Soil Food Web consultants in the world through Dr. Elaine Ingham’s Certification Program. He is nearing completion of a three-year Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) – Conservation Innovation Grant (CIG) studying soil biology at White Harvest Farms in Jacksonville.

White Harvest Farms holds free workshops on organic farming, composting, growing herbal teas, and more. Learn how you can purchase freshly harvested vegetables on Saturdays or volunteer on the farm.

This program will be offered in-person at the Garden Club and simultaneously on Zoom. Masks are optional for those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 but are recommended to help protect everyone. Those who are unvaccinated should wear masks; the Garden Club appreciates your cooperation.
