Combined Circles: The Art and History of Gourds

| Free – $5Artist and Garden Club member Mindy Hawkins shares her fascination with birds—real and imagined—through her exquisite gourd sculptures. Hear the story behind Hawkins’ artistic process of creating these breathtaking creatures using gourds as her canvas.
For thousands of years, artists from cultures around the world have engraved, carved, and dyed gourds. The types of carving and embellishments to these gourds are as diverse as the applications and the cultures from which they came. Hawkins’ original designs capture the freedom and spirit of the designs of these early artisans.
This program will be offered in-person at the Garden Club and simultaneously on Zoom. Seating at the Garden Club is limited, so register today. COVID-19 health and safety guidelines will be practiced during this event. Seating in the Ballroom will be socially distanced, and attendees must wear masks throughout the entire program.
