2022 Garden Club Annual Meeting

The Garden Club of Jacksonville hosted our Annual Meeting on May 19. Members of the Board of Trustees, Circle members, and Friends members joined to approve the new Board, hear a report from the treasurer, and learn about progress on the work to build a resilient campus landscape for the next 100 years of the Garden Club. 

Board President Tiffany Davis began the program with a warm welcome and a moment to honor Garden Club members who have passed in the past year. Treasurer Jennifer Newman presented a financial report, outlining a summary of this year’s income and expenses. Awards Chair LaVonne O’Shields presented this year’s awards. Winners were presented with commemorative plaques and certificates.

This year’s award winners were: 

• Mary Noble McQuerry Award: Garden Divas Circle
• Mentor of the Year: Connie Long of the Garden Divas Circle
• Community Action Award: Garden Divas Circle
• Red Geranium Award of Recognition: Ann Scheu of the Ortega Forest Garden Circle
• President’s Membership Award: Ortega Forest Garden Circle
• Garden Therapy Award: Heather Garden Circle

First Vice President Ann Sauer outlined the past year’s programs, thanked each program chair for their work, and welcomed in the new Vice President of Programs Lynda Erwin. Executive Director Denise M. Reagan outlined the Garden Club’s upcoming programs, outreach initiatives, and this year’s membership numbers. She also discussed the landscape project’s contractor, ML+H, and upcoming updates.
