On January 13 children and their parents and caretakers learned to identify some of Northeast Florida’s most common backyard birds by their calls. Did you know the Northern Cardinal has sixteen different calls, and that only male Carolina Wrens sing?

After a presentation by Garden Divas Secretary Connie Long, where she shared her years of experience identifying and photographing birds, children broke into groups for activities including making a suet, and bird watching during a walk through the Garden Club’s campus.

Special Thanks

The Garden Club of Jacksonville thanks the Duval Audubon Society for donating binoculars, and Wild Birds Unlimited for donating bags for the children’s crafts.

Thank you to the Garden Divas for sponsoring Budding Gardeners: For the Birds.
