Children and their families learned how to propagate and grow sweet potatoes at this month’s Budding Gardeners: Hot Potato! on June 11.
The program, presented by Elizabeth Davis, also know as Elizabeth in Overalls, featured a short demonstration of sweet potato propagation, and the opportunity to see different kinds of sweet potatoes in different stages of growth. There were then three activities for children and their families:
- Planting a sweet potato slip to put in their own yard or garden
- Making a sweet potato painting using potato stamps
- Tasting locally made sweet potato pie
After the activities, families enjoyed a sweet potato pie tasting in the Club Room.
