On November 11, San Marco Circle volunteers and four Master Gardeners from UF/IFAS Duval County Extension spoke to children and their guardians about strawberries–the perfect fruit to plant this time of year! Did you know that if you plant strawberries in the late fall, and if given the proper care, you’ll have strawberries ready for late winter? They’re great for the Florida climate too, and they require eight hours of full sun!

Children had a fun time painting a painted strawberry craft, and learning how to plant a strawberry sprout to take home. They enjoyed a delicious snack of strawberry lemonade, cupcakes from Fresh Market and had fun with a strawberry backdrop for photos.

#GardenClubJax thanks Joan Raiford, Darlene Hall, Diane Seymour, and Kelly Joans from UF/IFAS Extension Duval County, and Fresh Market for providing a snack.
