On January 29, the Garden Club of Jacksonville welcomed celebrated floral designer Laura Dowling for this year’s Designer of Distinction event. Laura presented an inspiring program and floral demonstration that highlighted her refined design style, thoughtful approach to floristry, and decades of experience at the highest levels of the industry.
The Designer of Distinction celebration began the evening prior with a special VIP cocktail reception, where guests enjoyed an elegant evening of conversation and connection with Laura. The cocktail party was beautifully catered by Biscottis, providing a warm and inviting start to the festivities.
During her presentation the following day, Laura shared insights into her creative process and philosophy, emphasizing seasonality and intentional design. Her demonstration featured elegant arrangements rooted in classic French design principles, with natural, garden-inspired compositions showcasing organic movement and layered textures. Several of her stunning designs were raffled off to lucky guests, adding to the excitement of the afternoon. Following the program, attendees enjoyed a prepared luncheon catered by Puff ’n Stuff, along with time to connect with fellow members and guests.
The Designer of Distinction is an annual fundraising event that presents an expert in the field of floral design demonstrating and discussing their work. The Garden Club of Jacksonville is proud to continue this tradition by welcoming leaders who inspire creativity, elevate the art of floristry, and share their knowledge with our community.
