Beth Marlowe, urban garden coordinator at the UF|IFAS Extension Office of Duval County, discussed the ways home landscapes can go beyond ornamental plants on October 6. She explained how you can grow food in your landscape, too—and enjoy the beauty and the utility of edible plants. Whether your home has a giant yard or a small patio, you can incorporate foodscaping into your plan. Marlowe outlined how you can use existing garden beds or containers to grow herbs, leafy greens, edible flowers, and much more. She also provided tips for navigating homeowners association rules and avoiding dangerous herbicides and pesticides on plants you intend to eat.
