Spiced Pecans

Ingredients

  • 3½ tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne (heaping for spicier)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon coriander

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter, place in a bowl, and add all ingredients except pecans. Stir well, then add pecans. Spread on parchment-covered baking sheet. Bake 10 to 15 minutes until toasted. Check frequently after 10 minutes, as nuts burn easily.

Easy Peasy Sugared Pecans

Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • Pinch of nutmeg, preferably grated fresh
  • 2 tablespoons good quality pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 cups pecan halves

Directions
Combine all ingredients except nuts in a skillet and cook over medium heat for a minute or two, until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is bubbling. Add the pecans and cook for an additional three minutes, stirring to coat the pecans in the glaze. Remove from the heat, and using a silicone spatula, spread the pecans out on parchment paper to let the pecans cool completely. If preferred, you may toast pecans first for about seven to eight minutes, depending on freshness of nuts. Be careful: Nuts burn easily!
